Rape at gunpoint

Three suspected armed robbers who smashed into a house at Adentan and sexually assaulted girls at the point of a cutlass and gun have been grabbed by the police.

According to the Adentan Police, at about 2am on May 17, the three suspects, with the aid of a cutlass and a locally manufactured pistol, broke into the house.

The robbers, after ransacking the house and failing to lay their hands on anything of high value, decided to steal three tins of Nido, a tin of Milo and assorted drinks.

Not satisfied with what they had taken, the suspects decided to vent their anger on two girls-one aged 15, the other 17-by raping them in turns while the girls’ parents were in a different room in the house.

The rapists bolted after their dastardly act while the victims quickly reported the incident to their parents.

According to the Adentan District Commander, DSP Stephen Kofi Ahiatafu, at about 9am on May 17, the complainant in the case, who is the mother of the girls, reported to the Adentan Police that three men had robber her and raped her two daughters at gunpoint.

DSP Ahiatafu said luck eluded one of the suspected rapists, Emmanuel Kwesi Aidoo, when he was patrolling in the area and was identified by one of the girls.

He was immediately arrested.

Upon interrogation, Emmanuel mentioned a Takyi Collins and a Darlington Tamakloe as his accomplice and on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 22 the two were arrested by the police from their hideouts.
