Offinso (Ash), July 7, GNA- More than 300 students of Namong Senior High School at Namong, a suburb of Offinso, have been displaced by a rainstorm which hit the school about four months ago. The students are forced to attend classes under shady trees and in open spaces.

The roofs of the five unit classroom block were ripped off and properties, including teaching and learning materials worth over 6,500 Ghana Cedis were destroyed.

Mr. Richmond Edward Carl Amoah, headmaster of the school, who led newsmen to inspect the block on Sunday said, the roofs of the dinning hall and the computer laboratory were also ripped-off. He said the school authorities have mobilized funds internally to re-roof the computer laboratory and the dining hall.

Mr. Amoah said that efforts to raise enough funds to re-roof the affected classroom block have proved unsuccessful and added that, the situation was seriously undermining effective teaching and learning. He appealed to individuals, organisations, Ghana Education Service, Ghana Education Trust Fund and the Offinso Municipal Assembly to assist the school to re-roof the classroom block. 7 June 08
