A mudslide on the Adenta-Aburi road has caused a section of the major road to be blocked, causing gridlock along the Peduase – Ayi Mensah stretch.

The mudslide was triggered by heavy rains in the area Friday afternoon. It sent mud and rocks from the Akuapim Ridge onto the road at a sharp curve, just about 400 metres away from the popular Peduase Lodge.

“Lots of sand and rocks have fallen onto the road [from Aburi to Accra stretch],” an eyewitness, Mamle Amenya told 3news.com a while ago.

Traffic from Adenta towards Aburi has now been re-routed to the other side of the dual carriage road that also leads to Koforidua and the Akwapim area.

National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) officials and police personnel have arrived at the scene to manage the traffic situation which is likely to peak in the next hour.
