Rachel Appoh donates farming tools to Gomoa Central youth

Former Gomoa Central Member of Parliament, Rachel Appoh marked this year’s Farmer’s Day celebration with donation to some youth in her constituency who are into farming.

The former deputy Gender Minister through her Obaa Sima Foundation presented farming tools estimated to be GHC22,600 to a group in the constituency that champions the involvement of the youth in farming.

The items donated include 150 pairs of wellington boots, 150 pieces of cutlasses and ten pieces of street lights.

Presenting the items to the group called Youth in Agriculture, Rachel Appoh said that the donation is to encourage the youth to see agriculture as a viable and profitable business.

She stressed the importance of getting the youth to go into agriculture since it is the backbone of Ghana's economy.

“These young ones have shown an enthusiasm in farming in various aspects like vegetables, fruits, cassava, cocoa etc. I want to encourage them to do more because farming is good. It’s a profitable venture that can help them make some decent income so I’m really excited to be doing this”.

The executives of the group expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the former lawmaker and promised to distribute the tools to the members.

“We are very grateful for this donation. It will go a long way to help our course and we are going to make sure every member of this group benefits from this kind gesture”, one of the executive members said.

Rachel Appoh was awarded at the 2019 Ghana Outstanding Women’s Award for her charitable works.
