RE: Bombshell: Chief Imam wanted to stop number 12 - Amin Lamptey

My attention has been drawn to news item with the above misleading headline, which went viral on social media and published on August 24, 2018 by myNewsGh.com.

I am reliably informed that the misleading write-up was written by one Listowel Yesu Bukarson, who has arrogated to himself the unofficial Spokesperson for investigative Journalist, Anas Aremeyao Anas. The same Listowell led in sharing the dubious write-up on social media platforms to satisfy his mischievous agenda.

I wish to state in unequivocal terms that there is no iota of truth in the Listowel-originated story under the misleading headline that I said the National Chief Imam, His Eminence Sheikh, Dr Osman Nuhu Sharubutu had wanted to stop the showing of number 12 expose on alleged corruption in Ghana football under the leadership of former GFA President,Kwesi Nyantakyi.

This is a sad example of irresponsible journalism that we must all endeavour to discourage and avoid in our public discourse.

We cannot have Journalists who are expected to know better, deliberately twisting live interviews and putting up stories without cross checking or erifying to advance their mischievous agenda.

I believe this is part of the mischief intended to discredit me and tarnish my image due to my position on the modus operandi of Anas Aremeyaw Anas on investigative journalism.

In my interview on Happy 98.9 FM with Odieasempa Kwame Oware on Thursday August 23, I never said his Eminence, the National Chief Imam had wanted to stop Tiger Eye PI from showing the investigative video involving Kwesi Nyantakyi and other FA officials, as Listowell and the news portal cruelly captured.

The audio of the interview is available and my assertion can be verified. I therefore, completely find the headline a deliberate act of mischief and disrespect by those who orchestrated it.

I therefore wish to ask MyNewsGh.com to kindly through the author of the story to correct the misconceptions the story might have created.
