RCC to assist House of Chiefs with logistics

Sekondi, June 28, GNA - Mr Anthony Evans Amoah, the Western Regional Minister, has said that the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) could assist the Judicial Committee of the Western Regional House of Chiefs with logistics to enable it to settle most of its protracted chieftaincy and land disputes.

Additionally, eminent personalities and chiefs in the region would be used by the RCC to mediate in chieftaincy, land and other disputes to foster peace.

Mr Amoah said these at a media on Monday. He said chieftaincy disputes were beyond him and it was only the judicial committee that needed to be strengthened to function properly and resolve most of the cases.

Mr Amoah said Tarkwa needed a 10-year development plan to transform it from its present status and called on the media to offer suggestions to achieve the target.

Mr Amoah said every district must plan ahead to safeguard its natural resources and achieve the maximum benefits without destroying the environment.

He said problems confronting the region were enormous and it was only the media that could assist it overcome them. Mr Amoah said the region could develop if more resources were channelled into the human resource and infrastructure development and that the RCC would continue with projects initiated by the previous team.
