RCC donates food items to Muslims for Eidul Fitr

Sekondi, Sept. 8, GNA - President John Evans Atta Mills on Wednesday donated a number of food items to the Chief Imams of the Alsuna, Tijania and Ahmadyya Muslims in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis towards the celebration of the Eidul Fitr festival.

The items included 100 bags of rice and 10 cartons of cooking oil.

Mr Paul Evans Aidoo, Western Regional Minister, made the presentation on behalf of the President on Wednesday in Sekondi.

He said the Western Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) had earlier presented a number of food items to the Muslim Communities in the 17 districts in the Western Region towards the celebration of the festival.

The items included 200 bags of rice, 150 bags of sugar, 1,000 pieces of mats and 250 bags each of maize and beans.

Mr Aidoo commended the Muslim Community in the Metropolis and the entire region for maintaining peace in the region and urged them to continue with the spirit in the years ahead.

He congratulated them for ending the one month fast peacefully and advised them to let the good spirit in which they fasted guide them in all their endeavours to live harmoniously with one another.

Alhaji Sani Abdulai, Deputy Western Regional Chief Imam, thanked the President and the RCC for the gesture and assured that they would be used for the purpose.

Alhaji Abdulai assured that the Muslims in the region would ensure peace and love at all times.

He prayed for the President and the leadership of the nation for smooth and peaceful administration.
