RAWLINGS - ABACHA AXIS UNDER STRAIN .............. AS DOUBTS OVER SIERRA LEONE'S FUTURE STABILITY DEEPEN!

The Guide's reliable sources at Ghana's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) have intimated that Ghana is unhappy with the Nigerians for deciding to start military operations against the AFRC of Major Koromah without first alerting the Ghanaian authorities, though the latter will as usual diplomatically deny any such development.

Our sources further revealed that Ghana is also intrigued by Nigeria's decision to apply force at a time when possibilities for a negotiated political settlement had not been exhausted.

"The Nigerians are behaving like a bully and a 'big brother'. Ghanaians are very proud people who will not allow themselves to be pushed around by any so-called big brother in the sub-region," said a senior MFA offical who preferred anonymity.

The official, however, critised the Ghanaian government's own attitude towards the recent coup in Sierra Leone, saying "Ghana's attitude has been too ambivalent and incoherent hence the decision by the Nigerians to upstage us."
