Member of Parliament for Lawra, Anthony Abayifaa Karbo has urged indigenes to put the interest of Lawra first in all their endeavours.

The MP made this passionate appeal when he addressed the 42nd Kobine Festival of the Chiefs and Peoples of Lawra in the Upper West Region.

Karbo, who doubles as Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways said ‘‘As Member of Parliament for Lawra, and as a son of the land, I will at all times put the development of Lawra first. And all of us, as children of the land, must put the development of our land first. We have a sacred duty to ensure that we build a Lawra stronger and better than we inherited from our forebears.”

While he thanked the President for honouring his promise to elevate Lawra from a District to a Municipal status, he urged indigenes to be mindful of the new challenges such elevation brought and the need to make sacrifices if the enormous benefits that come with the status of a Municipality were to tap into.

He touted significant achievements under his watch as an MP in areas such as the areas of education, water and sanitation, road infrastructure, health and employment and assured constituents of his commitment to see the rapid development of Lawra.

”I am in a hurry to see Lawra take her place as a land of endless opportunities and immense wealth. This must mean for the ordinary man on the streets, visible development in terms of improved infrastructure and an improved quality of life,” he added.

The 42nd Kobine Festival, which was held on Friday, the 12th of October, 2018 saw the attendance of many prominent dignitaries including the Minister for Interior Ambrose Dery (MP), the Upper West Regional Minister and his Deputy, as well as several Ministers of State.
