Members of Ghana Printers and Paper Converters Association have reduced the price of exercise books by at least 12%.
This follows the passage of Act 890 by Parliament which led to the removal of VAT on materials imported for production of text and exercise books.
Members have been able to clear their paper inputs for production free of VAT and partial removal of custom duties.
As result they do not charge VAT on sale of exercise books. This means prices of exercise books have dropped.
However, there is still 5% of customs duty to be waived and prices could reduce further if removed.
Since not all printers are able to meet the criteria to enjoy the waiver. The association is urging members to satisfy the conditions to enable them benefit from the waiver.
