Public urged to feel free to buy condoms

Tema, May 08, GNA -- Mr Kwaku Kyeremeh, President of Divine Grace Foundation, a non- governmental organisation on HIV/AIDS on Friday advised long distance transit drivers to refrain from casual sex in order not to contract the dreadful HIV/AIDS to infect others.

Speaking at an HIV/AIDS campaign organised by the foundation for workers operating in and around the harbour, he said though their jobs take them away from homes for days it was safer to remain faithful than to indulge in casual sex to contract the disease, which has no cure. However, where they cannot restrict themselves he advised on the use of condom and must not feel shy to buy them because its use is not illegal.

Mr Kyeremeh advised against the discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS and rather accept them into their folds to encourage them to expose their status to prevent the spread of the disease.

Mr Chris Azumah, a Deputy Director of the Tema Municipal Assembly and HIV/AIDS Focal Person called on parents to create a congenial atmosphere to discuss sex with their children so that they know the consequences when they indulge in the act. This would help the children make informed choices so they have themselves to be blamed when they fall prey to it.
