Accra, July 14, GNA - Ten public officials have undergone intensive capacity building training course at the International Labour Organisation (ILO) training centre in Turin, Italy as part of the Ghana Decent Work Country Programme
The course also aimed at strengthening the capacity of state institutions to formulate relevant and coherent policies to reduce poverty.
A statement to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Tuesday, signed by Dr Nii Moi Thompson, an International Project Expert of the Local Economic Development Initiative, said the training covered three areas which include "Tackling youth employment problems", "strategies for local economic development" and "analyzing survey data to monitor labour market conditions".
The statement said the ILO aimed at working closely with the ministries, social partners and the local government machinery.
The beneficiaries include two representatives each from the ministries of Employment and Social Welfare, Youth and Sports, one from the Local Government and Rural Development, two from the Central Region Development Commission and three from the municipal and district assemblies in the Central Region.
