Public Sector workers urged to exercise restraint

Kade (E/R), Oct. 31, GNA - A Deputy Minister for Education, Science and Sports, Mr Kwame Amporfo-Twumasi, has said that it is the view of government that adhoc method of fixing salaries and other conditions of service of public sector workers was not the best, hence the need to devise a more comprehensive, sustainable and equitable income structure.

He explained that such a structure could save the country of the perennial strike actions, industrial unrest and disharmony which go a long way to affect productivity.

Speaking at the 17th Annual General Meeting of the Centre for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) at Kade on Monday, Mr Amporfo-Twumasi said government had formed a multi-sectoral salary negotiating committee to fashion out a more comprehensive salary and other conditions of service for the country.

Mr Ampofo-Twumasi therefore appealed to all public sector workers to exercise restraint and let the committee accomplish its task for the ultimate good of all.
