The sod has been cut for the construction of a fish Processing and Demonstration Centre for citizens of Pru East and Pru West Districts in the Bono East Area to help farmers to process their fishes for improved livelihood, income and creation jobs.

Prior to the construction of the facilities, young, women and Person with Disabilities (PWD's) had no means of adding value to their catch except the traditional smoking and freezing which reduces the shelf life of their catch.

With the introduction of the 48 months project which is co-funded by the European Union and being implemented by the Centre for Local Governance Advocacy (CLGA), National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG), Centre of Posterity Interest Organization (COPIO) and Abrono Organic Farming Project (ABOFAP), the Promoting Access of Indigenous People to Decent Work and Social Protection in the Bono East Area of Ghana (PRODESOP) Project will contribute to the reduction of unemployment among the women, youth and PWDs and provide sustainable income through the provision of fish hatchery and nursery, fish processing facilities, cages and ancillary equipment, demonstration centre and tanks for domestic fishing farming.

The project after completion is expected to capacitate women, youth and PWDs with needed skill in for fish farming and value addition which will increase the shelf life of their catch and provide employment and income.
