Provisional Results Show No Change in Voting Pattern

Provisional results from some polling stations all over the country show no change in the way Ghanaians voted in the December 7 elections. The trend of voting in the last elections has not changed, as the two candidates so far seem to be taking back the areas the won in the first round. The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has so far maintained its dominance over the ruling NDC in the capital Accra.

In the December 7 elections, the NPP won in most parts of the capital and so far the trend has not changed. The results so far favor the NPP.

Results from the Volta region of the country, which is one of the strongholds of the NDC so far, put the party far ahead of the NPP. Despite Mr. J.A. Kufuor's last minute vigorous campaign in the region, the Voltarians still do not think that the NPP Flag-bearer deserve their votes.

From the Central Region, most of the provisional results favor the NPP. The party won the majority votes in the region in the first round of balloting. Although it is too early to speculate, political analysts say if the trend continues as it is now, the NPP might win the run-off. But, it is too close to call.
