Promoting the welfare of my people is my concern - Minority Leader

Kumasi, April 6, GNA - Mr Osei-Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, Member of Parliament (MP) for Suame and Minority Leader in Parliament, has said his priority was to promote the socio-economic wellbeing of his constituents. According to him, he would want to see improvement in education and health as well as youth empowerment and it was for this reason that over the years he had spent his share of the MPs Common Fund in these areas.

Mr Mensah-Bonsu said he was happy with the significant strides made, citing the completion of school blocks at Suame, Bremang, Kronom and Maakro.

Added to this is the award of scholarship to 80 brilliant but needy students in the constituency, he added. Mr Mensah-Bonsu, who was speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Kumasi on why he was seeking re-election, said he had also helped to build a clinic at Bremang.

He spoke of efforts he was making to upgrade roads in the area and tackle the water situation, saying he was in constant touch with officials of the Department of Urban Roads and the Ghana Water Company.

The MP advised members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to maintain an impregnable front and to eschew all forms of divisive tendencies ahead of the battle to win back political power in 2012.
