Professor Gyan-Baffour denies resigning from NPP

Wenchi (BAR), Jan. 10, GNA - Professor George Gyan Baffour, Member of Parliament for Wenchi, has denied resigning from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) because it lost power.

Speaking to Ghana News Agency at Wenchi, Prof. Gyan-Baffour said "It would be a political betrayal for any NPP Parliamentarian to resign at this time that the Party needs their support, contributions and suggestions to regain power in 2012."

He was reacting to allegations that Prof. Gyan-Baffour former Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, has decided to resign as a Parliamentarian because he lost the Ministerial position.

Prof. Gyan-Baffour described the allegations as "false", stressing: "I have not even decided yet as to when I would end my political career."

He advised NPP Parliamentarians to be firm, work extra hard and continue with their good works to enable the Party regain power in 2012. Prof. Gyan-Baffour noted that "complacency and lack of understanding among the rank and file of the Party" were some of the factors that contributed to its defeat and appealed to activists, members and supporters to bury their differences, forge ahead in unity and remain loyal, resolute and work towards Election 2012.

He commended the public for the peaceful election and urged them to maintain the spirit to accelerate the pace of national development.
