The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers Authority (GSA), Professor Ransford Gyampo, has vehemently dismissed allegations accusing him of engaging in lavish travel at the state's expense and conducting unauthorised recruitments within the institution.
In a statement posted on Facebook on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, Prof Gyampo described the claims circulating on airwaves and social media as baseless, providing a detailed rebuttal.
Setting the record straight on rumoured recruitments, Professor Gyampo stated that he has not been involved in any hiring activities, contrary to speculation that he recruited "28 women and two men."
He clarified that recruitment at the Ghana Shippers Authority has, for several years, been handled professionally by a private outsourcing company.
He emphasised that the rigorous selection process implemented by this agency eliminates any loopholes for manipulation or favouritism.
Addressing the allegations of expensive travels, Professor Gyampo emphatically stated that while his role occasionally requires international travel, he has only undertaken four trips out of numerous official opportunities.
He further clarified that each of these trips received explicit approval and permission from the Chief of Staff and were undertaken in economy class, directly refuting claims that he traveled in first or business class.
“Part of my work require that I travel and out of the over 38 opportunities, I have only honored 4 and these were with the expressed approval and permission from the Chief of Staff. Anyone can check for the evidence. I have never travelled on First Class or Business class. I remain the only CEO in Ghana who travels on economy ticket. Again, the evidence of my boarding passes for all the four trips are there,” Prof Gyampo clarified.
The academician reiterated his commitment to upholding integrity and prioritising the institution’s interests over personal gain.
He urged well-meaning Ghanaians to treat the allegations with the contempt they deserve and has threatened to take legal action against individuals perpetuating these claims.
