Prof. Samuel Amoako attends fundraiser to build hospital in Suhum

Ghana’s Consul General, Professor Samuel Amoako has attended a fundraising event organized by, “Love without Walls,” a nonprofit organization (NGO) based in New York, to build a hospital in Suhum.

The facility which was started in October 2015 and scheduled to be completed in 2019, will serve the healthcare needs of Ghanaian kids and those from the West African sub-region.

This noble idea is the initiative of Dr. Hartford Dawson in partnership with Bishop H. Curtis Douglas of Dabas Bethlehem Cathedral. According to Dr. Dawson, he conceived the idea when he visited Ghana in 2014 on the NGO’s assignment.

As soon as he returned to the United States, he was compelled to start the project in Suhum, because he had seen the bad nature of the country’s healthcare systems and wanted to contribute his quota to help meet this important need.

At a fundraising event held on November 24th, 2017 in Queens, New York, towards the project, the NGO invited Prof. Samuel Amoako to be the guest of honor. He was delighted at the NGO’s initiative, especially as coincidentally, it is being undertaken at the place where he had begun teaching in 1968.

It will be recalled that from the time the Consul General took office, he has been very engaging with the Ghanaian communities across the U.S., sharing his vision, explaining government policies to them, and wooing investors.

The fundraising event offered yet another opportunity for him to sell the investor-centered policies of H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo-led government, such as the One District, One Factory; One Village, One Dam; and Planting for Food and Jobs. Prof. Amoako added that Agriculture under the NPP government is making a paradigm shift from raw material production to value addition. It is one of the ways that the industry intends to create jobs for the teeming unemployed youth.

With the warm reception and messages of assurance from his hosts, Prof. Amoako believes the investment prospects of the country are very high.
