The running mate for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has called on traders in the Ashanti Region to endorse the NDC's flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama.

According to her, the former president is the only candidate who has women and trading at heart, adding that businesses will thrive should the NDC win the 2024 election.

Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang said this when she engaged some traders at the Kejetia Market in Kumasi on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.

Addressing hundreds of traders who welcomed her with open arms, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang called out the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), saying the party has neglected the needs of traders in the Ashanti Region.

She added that John Mahama has a proven track record as a nation-builder and remains the best candidate to make the impact Ghanaians, particularly traders, have been lacking in the last eight years.

Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang believes that by rallying behind Mahama, traders can work under a government that better represents their interests and addresses their concerns.

Responding to her calls, the Queen Mother for Dry Fish Sellers at the Kumasi Kejetia Market, Grace Agyei Nyarko, encouraged traders to vote massively for the NDC.

She noted that they have, on different occasions, come up with policies and infrastructure that have supported trading activities in the Ashanti Region and Ghana.

She, however, pledged their full support to the NDC in the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.
