Probe 'untidy' RAMS Kitchen deal – Kweku Baako

Kweku Baako has called for a “full scale probe” into the award of contract by NLA Boss, Kofi Osei Ameyaw to RAMS Kitchen, a company owned by his sister in law.

The veteran journalist termed the whole process as ‘untidy’ while contributing to news analysis program Newsfile on Saturday morning.

"It is seemingly untidy [and] I don't like what I see," he said, charging the NLA boss to make public the necessary documentation regarding the contracts.

Meanwhile, the Efutu MP, Alexander Afenyo Markin has termed assertions that the contract was a case of conflict of interest and cronyism as mischievous.

On his part, the move has not in any way taken from the state, but has rather saved the nation lots of money.

"Obviously if you are doing an evaluation and you want to look for value for money and the least price, Rams Kitchen got this on merit and that is not any financial loss to the state it rather saved NLA money," Mr Markin insisted.

An opposition NDC MP for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo who was also a panelist on the show, challenged Afenyo Markin alleging that the deal was "cleverly" done to outsmart the system.

"The issue is not about who eventually got it but the flawed process and the intent [but] it is more rotten when it turns out to be your sister-in-law," he said.

Similar to Isaac Adongo position on the matter, Baako maintained his stance, stressing that an investigation into the issue is the only way to cure any mischief in the case.
