Private Security operators lauded

DCOP Alexander Quainoo, the Western Regional Police Commander, has lauded the yeoman’s job being done by private security operators to ensure the maximum security of lives and properties in Ghana.

He, however, encouraged them to operate within their stipulated provisions provided by the Ministry of the Interior of not wielding any weapon apart from the baton.

DCOP Quainoo was speaking at a seminar, organised by the Ministry of the Interior for Chief Executive Officers and Managing Directors of Private Security Organisations in the Western Region.

He stated that private security organisations complemented the activities of the main-stream security agencies, and entreated operators to form a stronger relationship with the state security agencies in the performance of their duty.

Ms. Justina Bediako, Assistant Director of the Ministry of the Interior, said the training was aimed at bringing all private security providers under one umbrella body, in efforts to easily monitor and regulate their activities, and also to flash out charlatans of the system.

Dr. Evans Dzikum, Director of Finance, of the Ministry, who took the participants through the private securities regulations, entreated them to renew their licenses from time to time.
