The Ghana Prisons Service has in an Interfaith Thanksgiving Church Parade thanked the Almighty God for helping it to successfully deliver on its mandate of safe custody, reformation and rehabilitation of prison inmates in the past year.

The service which drew officers from the four Prisons establishments within the Greater Accra Region witnessed Intercessory prayers for God’s special favour for the Service, against Sickness and premature death, for good health and prosperity and for the peace and security of Ghana.

The acting Director-General of Prisons, Mr. Patrick Darko Missah, speaking during the event at the Prisons Headquarters at Cantonments in Accra, noted that God has done so much for the Service despite the numerous challenges it faced, and there was the need to give Him thanks. ‘Let us always give thanks to the Almighty God, so He can do more for us’, he added.

The Chaplain-General of the Prisons Service, Apostle CSP James Tetteh, in his purpose for gathering address said it was appropriate to express gratitude to God for His guidance and protection of the Service and its officers, and also for granting it a success in the past year.

The Guest Speaker, Reverend Ray Lartey, Chaplain-General of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue authority, preaching on the theme; ‘Thanksgiving’, said God has been good to the officers and their families despite their imperfect lives. “With all the good things God has done for Prisons Service, it is appropriate to thank Him”, he added.

Other dignitaries present during the occasion were members of the Prisons Directorate, the Prisons Clergy, and officers in charge of Prisons establishments in Accra.
