Priest urges people to enter year with attitudinal change

Tema, Jan 01, GNA - A Catholic priest has appealed to Ghanaians to enter the New Year with new resolutions that would be put into reality. In a New Year message Rev Fr George Obeng-Appau, the parish priest of the Our Lady of Mercy Parish at Tema Community One, said indiscipline and disregard for rules and regulations could be solved if people changed their unproductive and negative perceptions.

He said in the New Year, most Ghanaians made resolutions hoping for better conditions in life but this would be a mirage "if we do not change our attitude."

"There is the indiscriminate littering of refuse, indiscipline on the roads, indulgence of the youth in social activities and many others". All these, he said, starts from the heart, homes and the communities before getting to the national level.

"If we change from within, the outside would also change', he said. Rev. Fr Obeng-Appau appealed to the youth to have focus and work towards it and said these are difficult times but with calculated plans and venturing into trades there could be a headway. He advised the youth to strive to brighten their corner in whatever situations or fields they find themselves so that they do not become liabilities to their families and society. 01 Jan 07
