The Ghana Police Service will from Friday, July 1 begin allocating security details to presidential and vice presidential candidates of the various political parties.

The police administration in March this year promised to provide security for all presidential candidates and their running mates ahead of the elections.

This move is part of security arrangements put in place to ensure peace in the upcoming November elections. Speaking to 3news.com, Director of Public Affairs at the Ghana Police Service Superintendent Cephas Arthur said the Presidential candidates and their Vice will be given the maximum security.

“Orders are going to come from the police administration and that is their professional kind of headquarters.

“However, they are going to be assigned to these personalities and so we will ensure that they do their bidding but within the ambits of the profession of the Ghana Police Service.

“As far as we are concerned, we don’t have Azorka boys, Bamba boys, invisible forces and Bolga bulldogs so if any of them decide to go contrary to the laws of the land and operate then they will have to contend with the police and the law.

He adds, “the Police Service is responsible for the well-being of the personnel”.
