Presidential Commission on Public Services Pension Schemes Appoined

Accra, June 30, GNA - President John Agyekum Kufuor in consultation with the Council of State on Wednesday appointed a nine-member Presidential Commission to work on Public Service Pension Schemes. The Chairman of the Commission is Mr. T.A. Bediako, former Secretary-General of Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) and Private Consultant in Labour Relations.

The other members according to a statement signed by Mr Kwabena Agyei Agyepongs, Press Secretary to the President and Presidential Spokesman are; Ms. Josephine Amoah, Commissioner, National Insurance Commission; Mr Austin Gamey, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Gamey and Gamey Academy of Mediation and former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Deputy Minister of Manpower Development and Mr Martin Esson Benjamin, Chairman, Ghana Brewery Limited and Member of Ghana Investment Advisory Council.

The others are Chief Adam, former Managing Director, ECG; Mr Andrew K. Asamoah, former Director of Human Resources, WHO, Geneva; Capt. Joel K. Sowu, Retired Army Officer; Mr Daniel Aidoo Mensah, former Managing Director, Metropolitan Insurance and Mrs I.M.A. Wontumi, Retired Civil Servant.

Teachers had in recent times embarked on nationwide demonstrations to back their demand to be put on the CAP 30 non-contributory Government Pension Scheme.
