Chief Executive Officer of Yamusah Group of Companies, Mr Zibrim Yamusah has received glowing praise from President Nana Akufo-Addo for his efforts at empowering women from deprived communities across the country, especially the Northern region.

Under his Development Initiative for Africa (GADIA) Advocates Charge Awards, the President maintains that empowered women play key roles in the development of any nation, and “the best ways of mitigating poverty and guaranteeing the progress and prosperity our country and continent."

Mr Yamusah was amongst eight business personalities and entrepreneurs who distinguished themselves in their fields of endeavor and ensured that the lots of women were elevated wherever they found themselves.

The eight notable business people and entrepreneurs were rewarded by President Akufo-Addo for promoting gender equality in their businesses.

Led by the President, the entrepreneurs pledged and agreed to be gender advocates for GADIA, acknowledging and affirming the importance of gender parity in the area of business and entrepreneurship within their companies.

Guided by the standards of the Women’s Empowerment Principles of the United Nations (UN) Global Compact, and business’ role in sustainable development, the advocates will be required to espouse the importance of women inclusion in all aspects of national development.

GADIA is the flagship programme for the President’s African Union (AU) Gender and Development Championship. It is built upon the pillars of enhancing women’s economic empowerment through the private sector and increasing women’s political participation.

As AU Gender and Development Champion, the President committed himself to working with key partners and stakeholders towards an Africa in which every woman and girl is fully empowered to realize their potential and contribute to the development of the continent.

President Akufo-Addo caused to be established the GADIA Advocates Charge (GACH) Award under the theme “Making Gender Equality the Private Sector’s Business”.

The GACH Award is a premier accolade instituted by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo under GADIA to support sustainable contributions towards gender equality and the progress of women.

The prestigious GACH Award will be bestowed upon a specific number of prominent businessmen across the continent who will be charged by the President as AU Gender and Development Champion to take concrete and measurable steps within their respective companies to enhance Gender Equality over a particular period of time.
