President begins two-day visit to UWR on Monday

Wa (UWR), March 26, GNA - President John Atta Mills will on Monday begin a two-day official visit to the Upper West Region, to inspect ongoing development projects and to cut-sod for commencement of other projects.

A programme from the Upper West Regional Coordinating Council indicated that to kick-start the tour, President will call on the Chief Imam, Yerinaa (Chief of Moslems) and Tendambas (Landlords) of Wa, in the morning before holding a meeting with traditional rulers at the Regional House of Chiefs.

He will later cut sod for commencement of work on the construction of an administrative and library Complex for the Wa Campus of the University for the Development Studies (UDS). President Mills will proceed to Nadowli District where he will inaugurate a six-unit classroom block for Queen of Peace Senior High School (SHS) at Nadowli.

He would visit the Jirapa District where he will inaugurate and inspect projects at Saint Francis Girls SHS at Jirapa and continue to Lawra District to inaugurate the Health Assistants Training School at Lawra.

President Mills will inspect ongoing work on the Nadowli-Lawra-Hamile road and return to Wa to meet with NDC executives and opinion leaders.

On Tuesday, he will pay a courtesy call on the Catholic Bishop of Wa, inaugurate electricity project at Sagu, perform ground breaking for the rehabilitation of the Wa-Hain road at Naro in the Nadowli District and sod cutting ceremony for the construction of a Polyclinic at Hain in the Jirapa District.

President Mills will continue to the Sissala West District where he will inspect projects at the Gwollu SHS and leave for Tumu in the East Sissala District to inaugurate and inspect a dinning hall project at the Tumu Secondary/Technical School.

The President will inspect work on the Tumu town roads and the Divisional Police Station at Tumu and go to Funsi in the Wa East District to inspect projects at the Funsi SHS.

He will inaugurate small town water supply and electricity projects at Funsi, and launch the Regional Rural Electrification Project also at Funsi before returning to Wa to end his official tour of the Region.
