President arrives from tour

Accra, Oct. 6, GNA - President John Agyekum Kufuor arrived home Monday morning after a two-nation tour, which saw him addressed the 58th session of the United Nations General Assembly in the USA and the Tokyo International Conference for African Development (TICAD III) in Japan. A statement issued from the Office of the Press Secretary said President Kufuor has arrived with a renewed zest to face up the challenges of effective leadership aimed at forging business development partnership to the benefit of Africans. "This was the main thrust of the message put across by President Kufuor at the just ended UN General Assembly and the TICAD III," it said.

The statement said President Kufuor and other African leaders in partnership with Africa's development partners had resolved to translate the goals and objectives of the two conferences into something productive. It said the President noted that, the ultimate beneficiary would be the ordinary African adding that, that would allay the fears of critics that these conferences were yet another talk shop.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Foreign Minister, who accompanied the President, had interactions with Mr Isaac Osei, Ghana's High Commissioner to the UK and officials of the mission. He also took part in a forum involving the Ghanaian community and some British Business/Investment Group on investment prospects and President's Kufuor's development agenda. Vice President Aliu Mahama (will lead) led a delegation to meet the President at the Airport.
