Accra, May 30, GNA - The presidents of Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire have pledged their commitment to work closely together to restore peace to Cote d'Ivoire.
Mr Koku Anyidoho said this when he briefed reporters at the Kotoka International Airport on the arrival of President John Evans Atta Mills from a three-day visit to Nigeria where he attended the inauguration of Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan. He said President Mills, who held talks with his Ivorian counterpart Alassane Outtara, who was also in Abuja, gave the assurance that he would continue to help Cote d'Ivoire through the quiet manner he had done so far.
Mr Anyidoho said President Ouattara thanked President Mills for his personal involvement in making his investiture possible through his 93quiet subtle mediation and negotiation".
He also lauded President Mills for visiting Ivorian refugees at the Ampain refugee camp in the Ellembele District, adding that he would make sure all Ivorians in exile returned home to help build the county.
Answering a question on what the commendations from the UN Secretary-General, Mr Ban Ki-moon and President Ouattara meant for President Mills and his government, Mr Anyidoho said Ghana had a long history of ensuring peace on the African Continent beginning from Dr Kwame Nkrumah.
He added that President Mill was only following the footsteps of his predecessors.
"President Mills considers it his duty to help bring peace to the continent," Mr Anyidoho stressed. President Mills also held talks with a delegation from Serbia on strengthening ties between the two countries, particularly in the area of education and the sciences.
