On February 14, a day celebrated by couples worldwide as Valentine’s Day, Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama expressed his affection for his wife, Lordina Mahama.

In a romantic gesture, the President used his official Facebook page to share a Valentine’s message with his wife, with whom he has five children: Shafik, Shahid, Sharaf, Jesse, and Farida.

In his message, President Mahama conveyed his love and appreciation in simple but heartfelt terms.

“A beautiful day to say, I love you, Lordina. Your box of chocolate is on the way,” he wrote.

The President has often publicly expressed his affection for his wife. On Valentine’s Day 2025, he shared, “Happy Valentine’s Day to the love of my life, Lordina. Let’s keep rocking this journey together.”

Despite a busy schedule, President Mahama found time for this gesture on February 14, 2026. He was set to convene a high-level Accra Reset side event in Addis Ababa ahead of the official opening of the 39th Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU).

The breakfast meeting, dubbed Addis Reckoning, will gather continental leaders, chief executives from private businesses, and heads of multilateral organizations to discuss Africa’s economic, technological, and governance priorities.

Even with these commitments, the President took a moment to honor his wife on Valentine’s Day.
