President John Mahama, has called on the people of Manprugu in the Northern region to ignore rumors making rounds that he will discriminate against other tribes when voted for because he is a Gonja.
He stated that those allegations are being peddled by some political opponents who see defeat staring them in the face.
President Mahama re-afirmed his commitment to pursue the common goal of reducing poverty in the North.
The President was calling on the Chief of Wugu, Wugunaba Sulemana Saaka at his Palace.
Wugunaba Sulemana thanked the National Democratic Congress, NDC, government for a number of development projects.
Whilst expressing optimism that the NDC will emerge victorious in the election.
He called on other political parties to adhere to the code of conduct by the Electoral Commission for peaceful elections.
The Wugunaba puts a few demands before the President.
In response, President Mahama said some efforts are being made with regards to the demands.
The Walewale-Nalerigu road is already under construction and there are also programmes under SADA which will be beneficial to the people who are predominantly farmers.
