President Kufuor to feature on BBC HardTalk

President J.A. Kufuor will interact with the British Press whilst in London to confer with the British Premier, Tony Blair, on issues of mutual interest.

The President will grant interviews to BBC TV, BBC Radio and the Financial Times of London.

On BBC TV, the President will feature on the highly rated talk show, HardTalk. The Press Secretary informed the Press that the interview on Hard Talk and BBC Radio will focus on the President's role as ECOWAS Chairman and his search for peace in West Africa, his presidency and the vision he has for the future of Ghana.

HARDtalk with Tim Sebastian is the hard-hitting flagship news programme shown on BBC World and BBC News 24.

The half hour interview is the result of detailed research and in-depth investigations. The programme host, Tim Sebastian, asks the difficult questions and gets behind the stories that make the news - from international political leaders to entertainers; from corporate decision-makers to ordinary individuals facing huge challenges.

The Financial Times interview will seek the President's views on NEPAD, the prospects of a Second West African Monetary Zone and Trade versus the Aid debate among others.

Mr. Agyepong expressed the view that the interest of major global media in President Kufuor is a reflection of the able manner he has conducted affairs of Ghana and beyond.

He further pointed out that the interest of the media worlwide in President Kufuor 's policy of bringing governance to people's doorsteps is evidenced in domestic interactions like People's Assembly, Castle meet the press and live interviews granted.

President Kufuor will confer with Premier Tony Blair in London on the 26th of April, 2004. The two leaders are expected to discuss issues of mutual interest.
