Accra, Jan. 24, GNA - Former President John Agyekum Kufuor would leave Accra on Monday for a two-day visit to Lagos, Nigeria, to deliver the keynote address at the launch of the Tony Elumelu Foundation.
A statement issued by Mr Frank Agyekum, Spokesperson, Office of Former President Kufuor, said he would speak on the topic, "Responsible Leadership: Shaping the Future for Business and Society," at the gathering of about 600 top bankers, financial experts, business executives and government officials.
It said Former President Kufuor would call for the merging of synergies between political leaders and those in business to ensure the creation of the right environment for generating wealth for the benefit of the citizenry.
"At the heart of every prosperous State, is a configuration between politics and business. Governments create the atmosphere conducive for business to flourish. When this happens, there is a win-win situation for all," the statement added.
According to the statement, President Kufuor would in addition, ask businesses to ensure a clear succession plan to ensure continuity of quality projects and programmes that had been started.
The Tony Elumelu Foundation was established to promote the celebration of excellence in business leadership and entrepreneurship across Africa by working to foster and impact Africa's business leaders and entrepreneurs at various stages of their development.
This includes offering scholarships to needy and bright students, especially in business to enable them to achieve their full potentials and exposing top ranking officers to international best practices.
Founder of the Foundation, Tony Elumelu, was until recently Chief Executive Officer of United Bank for Africa.
