NDC Amsterdam branch statement In Response To Why President Kufour Boycotted Dinner In Amsterdam
The article by Mr. Ebo Painstil , a free lance journalist posted on Ghanaweb on the 29 th October, 2008 raises a lot of questions about issues pertaining to the Ghanaian Community in the Netherlands.Of particular interest to NDC Amsterdam branch is the unfortunate implication in paragraph 6, that the visit of the President was organised by NDC Amsterdam branch activists and for that matter deliberately mismanaged.
We want to categorically state that no executive member or members of NDC Amsterdam branch or for that matter activists were involved >in the planning and execution of the President's state visit to the >Netherlands. We therefore want to make it very clear that NDC >Amsterdam branch had no hand in any short comings of the organisers.
>Secondly it is not true that the NPP-Holland boycotted the Dinner >organised for the president in Amsterdam. It is a fact that Mr.Kobby >Annan, the chairman and some executive members of NPP-Holland were >present at the Dinner. More to the point several NPP activists and >supporters were also present. Therefore to say that the NPP-Holland >was not represented is an understatement.
>We believe that a supposed state visit by the President, J.A. >kufour should strictly be a non-partisan affair, it is therefore >grossly irresponsible for any individual or individuals to attempt >to use it for partisan benefit.
>We are also worried about the credibility of Mr. Ebo Painstil, why >because he did not find it necessary to contact the NDC Amsterdam >branch for the facts but he did contact the NPP-Holland chairman >for unreliable information.
>We hope that in the near future the journalist would check his facts >very well before going to the press.
