President Conde eulogizes Osagyefo Dr. Nkrumah

Professor Alpha Conde, visiting Guinean President, on Thursday, described late President Nkrumah as a visionary, whose political ideas the continent was currently enjoying.

He said; " Late President Kwame Nkrumah wrote a book 'Africa Must Unite' years long ago and that is the ideal Africa is still groping for several years after he had died and gone".

President Conde gave this description when President John Dramani Mahama, accompanied by officials of the Volta River Authority, conducted him round the installations of the VRA hydro - electric project at Akosombo.

He said he was particularly delighted that the installation was handled by Ghanaians, adding, "Nkrumah's vision came clearly when he built this facility three years after gaining independence for this great West African country.

President Conde said although the African continent had political independence, it needed technical knowledge that would spur them on their quest for socio-economic empowerment.

"If we have to free ourselves economically, then we need to acquire technical knowledge that will move us to the next level of advancement," President Conde added.

President Mahama on the other hand, said Guinea had so much potential in hydro-electric power and would seek the expertise of Ghanaians in the coming years.

He appealed to the VRA workers to cooperate with their Guinean counterparts when they visited Ghana to learn about the project.

"Africa's development will so much hinge on sharing of experiences, and I appeal to you to offer them the necessary support anytime they come here to tap your skills and experiences," he added.

The two Presidents would jointly host a seminar on health at the Accra International Conference Centre.
