President At ACS-BPS

President Kufuor yesterday paid a surprise visit to the offices of ACS/BPS, an American offshore data transmitting business operating in Ghana's free zone area. Dr. Kwesi Ndoum, Minister for Economic Planning and integration accompanied him. He was welcomed on arrival by Mr. Hammond, the Country Manager and shown round by Mr. Sam Crabbe, the Assistant Country Manager. The President was visibly impressed by what he saw and in brief remarks told his hosts that he would like them to be partners with government in job creation to fall in line with his policy of "Golden Age of Business in Ghana."

ACS/BPS currently employs close to 1000 Ghanaians and plans to go up to 4000 in the coming years.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, which facilitated the location of the facility in Ghana, has been involved in sponsorship of vocational training and other charities around Ghana. It is no wonder that the President remarked that any church which could bring the kind of employment generating activity like what he saw at ACS/BPS must be taken serious.
