Presbyterian University begins academic work next year

The proposed Presbyterian University will start functioning in September next year, The Right Reverend Dr. Sam Prempeh, Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana has announced.

He said the Communications and Business Faculty would use the Ramseyer Training Centre at Abetifi-Kwahu, whilst the Faculty of Medical Sciences would be sited at Agogo in Ashanti.

The Moderator was speaking at the 43rd annual national delegates' conference of the church's Choirs Union at Dormaa-Ahenkro.

He said the Education and Social Sciences Faculty would be sited at Akropong-Akwapim while other departments would be located in other towns along the Kwahu Ridge.

Rt. Rev. Prempeh said the general assembly of the church would soon take a decision to impose a five per cent levy on every group within the church that would organise a fund-raising activity.

He expressed the hope that members of the church and public-spirited organisations would contribute to make the university project a reality.

Rt. Rev. Prempeh called on choristers to let their lives be a reflection of the songs they sing in order to make an impact on society.

Mr. Fred Ako, National President of the Union, proposed the institution of an award scheme to honour old and dedicated choristers to motivate others to render selfless services to the church.
