Presbyter Threatens Pastor With Bloodbath

A JILTERED presbyter of the Adumasa Presby Church, Kwame Asare, is helping the Akosombo police to investigate a case of threatening bloodbath he issued to Jonathan Opare, a pastor of Jesus Wonders Ministry.

Chronicle investigation at Ajena, near Akosombo in the Asuogyaman District, says that Pastor Opare, who claims to have been called, has been organising prayer camps at Akrade, Akwamufi Ajena and a few other villages in the district.

At Ajena, his noisy prayers became the topic for discussion in town, some agitating for his sack, but later he had the blessings of the chief who gave him a large tract of land for his camp meetings.

Kwame Asare, and his wife Adjoa were happily married and blessed with five children.

Adjoa, who is a "wakye" seller, started going to the church to seek fortune to end their financial burdens.

Soon their marriage hit a rock and Adjoa continued going to the prayer camp.

Kwame Asare, who is the "man of God" in charge of the Adumasa Presby Church became frustrated.

He reportedly went to a friend and asked him to lend him a gun for game, but he could not get one there, but succeeded with a second person.

After laying hands on the gun, he disclosed to the gun owner his mission which was to go and kill Pastor Jonathan Opare, whom he had warned never to lay hands on the wife in prayers.

Sensing danger, the gun owner collected back his property and reported the matter to the local police.

The police invited both men of God, Opare and Asare, for arbitration, but it ended in deadlock with the jilted husband threatening again in the presence of the police.

The wife was advised to stop attending the prayers organised by Pastor Opare. Police at Akosombo, when reached said that their findings would determine what line of action follows.
