Pregnant urged to desist from applying herbal extracts

Accra Aug. 23, GNA - Mr Francis Boison, Board Member of the World Federation for the Deaf (WFD), on Wednesday advised pregnant women to avoid the use of herbal preparations since they could adversely affect the unborn baby.

Mr Boison, who was speaking to the Ghana News Agency, in the wake of an apparent high incidence of deaf babies in Adamrobe, near Aburi in the Eastern Region, cautioned against the use of herbal concoctions to terminate pregnancies.

He advised pregnant women to consult their doctors rather than practising drug abuse.

Mr Boison suggested intensive health education for the people to desist from engaging in harmful practices.
