Prayers without hard-work would not solve nation's problems

Ghanaians are reminded that offering of prayers alone cannot change their economic position without hard-work and prudent financial measures.

Mr Benjamin Nii-Boye, Managing Director of Bengift Group of Companies was speaking at the annual camp meeting of the Effiakuma Circuit of the Methodist Church on the theme "Poverty, causes and solutions"

He said that though God listens to our prayers, it is expected that everyone will work hard and live within his or her means.

Mr Nii-Boye noted that overspending, lack of planning and laziness are some of the causes of poverty among several Ghanaians.

He stressed that unless Ghanaians work harder and adopt the habit of savings and live within their means, poverty cannot be eradicated.

Mr Nii-Boye cited greed and ostentatious lifestyles, as some of the causes that has led to the collapse of many homes nationwide and called on Christians to live within their means.

Reverend Daniel De-graft Brace, Superintendent Minister of the Circuit called on Christians to devote themselves to the study of the word of God.

He noted that many homes are run on loans and credits thus making it impossible to break from the poverty cycle.

Rev. Brace urged Christians to be faithful in all their obligations, to their families, Churches and the nation as a whole.
