Pool of water in front of ECG Achimota Sub Station causes accident

The driver of a Nissan Urvan minibus and only occupant of the vehicle with registration number GR 8659-13 was rushed to the 37 military hospital after he lost control of the vehicle causing it to somersault three times before hitting an electricity pole.
The accident occurred Sunday, October 26, 2014 at 1130 GMT on the Olusegun Obasanjo highway right in front of the ECG Achimota Sub Station H around Ebony near Dzorwulu in Accra.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver lost control of the vehicle while in his lane which happened to be in the pool of water. The vehicle then hit the pavement causing it to somersault three times, but the driver was forced out of the vehicle on the second roll before it hit an electricity pole right after the entrance of the ECG Sub Station.
Passers-by rushed the driver into a taxi to the 37 military hospital before the police arrived minutes later.
After examination by the Police, the vehicle was towed to the Kotobabi Police Station at 1215 GMT.
The scene attracted the attention of road users and passers-by who acknowledged the shoddy work of the contractor in charge of the renovation work on the ECG Sub Station last year.
They said it affected the drainage system on the Highway right in front of the building which as a result, has created a stagnant pool of water on that route making it dangerous and accident-prone.
