Politicians must show servanthood as leaders - Prof. Adei

Professor Stephen Adei Professor Stephen Adei

Former Rector of GIMPA Prof Stephen Adei has charged Ghanaian leaders especially politicians to exhibit servanthood and desist from embarking on their personal interests when elected or appointed to serve the country.

He wondered why most politicians with chauffeur-driven siren expect the citizenry to give them way when they are visiting their girlfriends or attending funerals.

Speaking during Ultimate 106.9FM’s public forum under the theme, the ‘Leader Ghana Deserves’ in Kumasi, he said the country does not need a leader who will eat the cake and give citizens crumbs.

He said Ghana does not need a leader who will steal from State coffers to enrich himself to the detriment of the citizens.

Prof Adei believes Ghana needs an incorruptible leaders who will not condone corruption in any form.

‘We must show servanthood as leaders and the fear of God. We need quality leaders who will transform Ghana by doing it as a service to the country. We need servant leaders, a servant that will not give us crumbs when they have given the better cake to their parties and cronies. Sometimes I wonder if our Presidents we elect are presidents for their parties or the country as whole. We don’t need a leader (minister) who when there is no official business the siren is on, sometimes they are just going to visit their girlfriends, boyfriends or attend parties or funerals and expect passer-bys to stand by for them to pass, how.

Leaders must show that they care for all Ghanaians and not only their party members, tribes, cronies or foreigners, sometimes I think Chinese nationals are much more loved than us, they have been destroying our water bodies with impunity,’ he fumed.

The former Rector of GIMPA said Ghana deserves a competent leader who can inspire and show love to his citizens.
