A police officer has died and two others have sustained injuries after a police mini-KIA Rhino truck lost control at Aseseso on the Somanya–Adukrom Highway in the Eastern Region.

According to a report by adomonline.com on March 24, 2026, the vehicle was travelling from Begoro towards Ashaiman when the incident occurred.

“The crash prompted a rapid response from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) at the Kpong Municipal Fire Station,” the report said.

The GNFS explained that the truck, which was carrying three personnel, veered off the road while descending the Aseseso hill.

Preliminary reports suggest that a fault with the vehicle’s gear lever caused the driver to lose control.

The driver, a police officer, died at the scene, while the injured personnel were rescued and transported to the Yilo Krobo District Hospital for medical treatment.

Authorities, according to the report, have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
