A policeman with the Marine Police, constable Abdulai Sumaila with service number 51848 has been confirmed dead after he was involved in a fatal accident while conveying some accident victims to the Axim Government Hospital on Sunday.

One other colleague Issahaku Tamimu with service number 51964 who suffered severe injuries was referred to Efia Nkwanta Regional Hospital where he is currently on admission receiving treatment.

Constable Iddrisu Muntari Kanfando, the third cop, suffered minor injuries and was treated and discharged at the Axim government hospital.

Police disclosed to mynewsgh.com that all three with the Marina Police Training School at Anyinase in the Western Region, were going on duty at Ghana Gas Company at Atuabo but on reaching the Atuabo Junction, they had information that an accident has occurred at Kangbunli.

They, therefore, proceeded to the scene and offered to convey the injured persons to the Axim Government Hospital but on their way, they were involved in an accident at Kikam leading to the instant death of Constable Abdulai Sumaila.

The body has since been deposited at the Axim Government Hospital pending autopsy while his immediate family has been informed.
