Police yet to present arrested Democracy Hub member in court - Barker-Vormawor

Legal practitioner and social activist, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, has disclosed that the police have yet to present Wendell Yeboah, Head of Mobilization for Democracy Hub, in court, following his arrest.

The Ghana Police Service, in an earlier statement on November 26, 2025, said that Yeboah would be arraigned before the court on Thursday, November 27, 2025.

However, Barker-Vormawor claims that since their appearance at the court at 8am, the police had not presented the suspect.

Police arrest Democracy Hub member over galamsey allegations against regional ministers

According to him, they had lawyers waiting at the court premises and the police station, but the police had still not shown up with the suspect.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, November 27, 2025, he wrote, “Since 8am, we have had lawyers waiting at the court and at the police station. Police have still not presented Wendell despite their own statement. 11 months p3 oo. We Dey watch.”

Wendell Yeboah was arrested following allegations he made against certain government officials, allegations which investigators have since determined to be false.

The police, in a statement dated November 26, 2025, and signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, disclosed that they acted on a petition submitted by Daniel Sasu Omari on behalf of the Ashanti, Eastern, and Western Regional Ministers, following allegations by the suspect of their involvement in illegal mining (galamsey) activities.

“Following a petition for investigation received by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), submitted by Mr Daniel Sasu Omari and two others on behalf of the Ashanti, Eastern, and Western Regional Ministers, suspect Wendell Nana Yaw Yeboah has been arrested to assist the investigation,” parts of the statement read.

Wendell Yeboah alleged on a live radio program on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, that three regional ministers are involved in illegal mining activities.

Democracy Hub, Barker-Vormawor sue Cheddar

Yeboah, during the interview, claimed that Eastern Regional Minister Rita Awatey, Western Regional Minister Joseph Nelson, and Ashanti Regional Minister Dr Frank Amoakohene are all implicated in galamsey operations.
