Police to ensure incident - free Christmas

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Akuribah Yaagy, Eastern Regional Police Commander, has pledged that the Police would be vigilant during the Christmas and New Year celebrations, to ensure incident-free festivities in the region.

He observed that during this times of the year, all manner of people crop up in the cities, to indulge in all forms of activities, and can make people lose their properties.

The Regional Police Commander gave the assurance at a parade in Koforidua, to deploy police personnel to their various duty posts within the Municipality during the Christmas and New Year festivities.

DCOP Yaagy indicated that the police command had increased its duty post from 13 to 33 during the Christmas festivities, adding that, the mere sight of police personnel in town can deter many criminals from committing crimes.

He said all the police personnel in the regional command would have a role to play to ensure that the peace and the stability of the public was assured.

The Regional Commander advised the public to collaborate with the police to ensure that all nefarious activities are exposed.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Peter Duodu, Acting Eastern Regional MTTU Commander, said they have deployed 50 personnel to direct traffic and check other traffic challenges during the festive season, to ensure traffic-free Christmas.

ASP Duodu advised drivers to go by traffic regulations, since they are there to serve their interest and that of the public.

He reminded drivers using car numbers with DV and DP plates that they have specific time limit, and cautioned such drivers not to go beyond that limit.
