At least six (6) people have been shot by police around the residence of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency.

The shooting went on few hours after polls were opened for the election of a Member of Parliament.

The victims whose identities are not yet known are believed to be members of the opposition NDC who were around their candidate’s residence to assist the party’s activities for the day.

Some were shot on the neck and others in their knee, according to some eyewitnesses who spoke to Kwame Minkah on Ete Sen on Radio XYZ.

“It is just like an action movie and I can’t believe my eyes,” a driver recounted as he mentioned that the said heavily armed police officers had covered their faces.

The six have been sent to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.

XYZ News’ Charles Akrofi also reported that shots were fired at the Bawaleshie Presbyterian school where voting was underway.

“The police are shooting and people are running for their lives,” he reported on Ete Sen.

Close to 90,000 voters are expected to cast their ballot in the by-election at the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency.
