The Ashanti regional police command has begun investigations into the murder of Nana Kwadwo Afordour, the Asamponhene of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The police said they are “working earnestly to get the perpetrators arrested” in what they suspect to be “contract killing.”

“We’ve picked one or two persons but for security reasons we don’t want to mention names now,” Ashanti regional police spokesperson Godwin Ahianyo told Sefanam Agbogbli on the Starr Breakfast News Monday.

The lifeless body of the sub-chief was found in the back seat of his Toyota Land Cruiser vehicle and abandoned at the outskirts of Ebuom on the Ejura-Nkoranza Road, Sunday.

The police are appealing to the general public to assist with voluntary information leading to the arrest of the murderers of the 46-year-old Asamponhene.

“The general public is also being urged to assist police investigations by volunteering information through police hotlines: MTN and Vodafone toll free lines 18555 and all networks on 191 or 0299202240,” a police statement said.

The remains have been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue.
