Police on Accidents

The Deputy Superintendent of Police and Officer Commanding the Kaneshie Divisional MTTU in Accra, Mr. Christian Dedzo, has expressed concern about the escalating number of pedestrian accidents in the division culminating in death and injuries. He said from January 1990 to September, this year, 242 pedestrians were killed by vehicles. Six and fifty-five pedestrians were also knocked down, resulting in some serious injuries during the period. Mr. Dedzo made these known during a visit to the Divisional MTTU by the regional head of the Police Public Relations Unit, Chief Inspector J. K Abban. The Divisional MTTU Commander appealed to drivers to be extra careful on the Kaneshie/Mallam Highway in order to reduce the high rate of pedestrian accidents occurring there. He also urged pedestrians to be cautious when crossing the road to as to avoid being knocked down by vehicles.
